After primary school (holder of Vuk's diploma), he enrolled in the Military High School and graduated from the Military Academy in Belgrade in 1982, as one of the best students. He continues his studies of geodesy and geoinformatics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade, and as the first candidate in the generation, he defended his master's thesis entitled "General geographical map of FR Yugoslavia 1: 1000 000". This paper represents the First Digital Geographic Map made in Serbia (Yugoslavia). He defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Model and organization of geospatial data for a scale of 1:50 000" in 2004, also at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade. For this work, he received an award and a plaque from the Society for Informatics of Serbia. The dissertation is available at several universities in our country and in Europe.
He has been engaged in teaching and pedagogical work at higher education institutions since 1997, when he was elected to the teaching title of assistant, and later assistant professor for the subjects Mathematical Cartography and Spatial Information Systems. He taught at the Military Technical Academy in Belgrade, the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Montenegro in Podgorica, the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Donja Gorica, The Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad. He has published more than 150 scientific and professional papers in international and domestic journals. He is also a member of editorial boards and editorial boards in several national and international journals and has been a reviewer of more than 40 scientific and professional papers and bibliographic publications. He published textbooks in Higher (theoretical) geodesy and Cartography, a monograph entitled "Development of GIS" and is the co-author of a national monograph entitled "Geodetic activity in Serbia 1837-2012".
From 2006 to 2011, he was the head of the Military Geographical Institute in Belgrade, and in 2015 he was the assistant general director of the Republic Geodetic Authority in Belgrade.
Since 2011, he has been actively engaged at the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad, where he was elected assistant professor, in 2016 associate professor and in 2021 full profesor for the narrower scientific field - geoinformatics.
