Course specification

Course is active from 01.10.2004..

Educational goal of this course is to prepare students for work in graphic production environment through acquiring knowledge about basic elements, structure, construction principles of graphic production systems in various printing techniques, material and product manipulation, paper finishing systems, as well as their maintenance and control. Understanding these subjects can provide successful and uninterrupted processes in all stages of graphic production.
After the course, students are able to successfully contribute to production process with their knowledge about structure, construction principles of graphic production systems in various printing techniques, material and product manipulation, paper finishing systems, as well as their maintenance and control. Theoretical knowledge and practical skills obtained in this course can be used in professional engagement for selection, exploitation and maintenance of graphic production systems, as well as the base for further education in this field.
Classification of graphic production systems, basic structure of graphic production systems, graphic production systems in graphic processes, basic mechanisms and structure of graphic systems. Basic construction concepts (plate to plate, cylinder to plate, rotational systems). Graphic printing systems: letterpress printing, gravure printing, lithography printing, screen printing, digital printing, hybrid graphic systems and special graphic systems. Finishing systems, packaging and graphic materials manipulation systems, complex graphic production systems and their elements, Maintenance and repair, testing and quality control of graphic production systems.
Teaching is held using contemporary didactic means and methods, interactively in the form of lectures, computer and laboratory practice. Theory is presented in lectures, followed by the examples and solution simulation for better understanding of the course content. Computer work is organized in a manner as to supplement the skills, and laboratory work is used to practically apply the acquired knowledge using the laboratory equipment. Apart from lectures and practice, tutorials are regularly held.
