Course specification
Course is active from 22.01.2019.. Getting to know the basics of river hydraulics, sediment transport and morphology of the river bed. Application base on the practical aspects such as regulation works and measures. Acquired knowledge is used as a basis for further upgrading in professional courses. Geomorphological characteristics of natural watercourses. Flows in open canals and water courses of prismatic and non-prismatic cross sections. Velocity distribution, tangential and turbulent stresses, resistance to friction. Transition regimes and calculations on non-uniform flows in open conductors. Origin and physical properties of sediment. Sediment transport. Bed load, suspended sediment and total deposition. Teaching is performed interactively in the form of lectures, auditory and computer practice. Certain problems are solved through lectures, discussions and computer simulations. Lectures are accompanied with numerous real-life cases.
