The aim of the subject is that students master the concept of integrated business and production operations, to understand the role of information systems in the organization and management of business systems, to gain fundamentals in SAP enterprise systems (ERP, SCM, CRM, PLM) and acquire the ability to actively participate in the implementation of given systems, in order to solve the problems of organization, administration and management of business and production processes of companies.
Students will be able to fully understand the importance and role of information systems in business systems; to formulate, based on the acquired knowledge of SAP systems and their application in various types of business systems, the requirements for the improvement and development of the information system in real business systems in areas of business management, marketing, development, design, production, logistics, financial flows and human resource management.
Introductory considerations. Organization, management and information systems. Models of business processes. Business information systems. Information technologies. Data and infrastructure of the information technologies. SAP enterprise systems. SAP systems for enterprise resource planning (ERP), SAP systems for customer relationship management, SAP systems for managing relationships with suppliers, SAP information systems for product lifecycle management. Information systems in decisions and strategy making. The implementation of management information systems. SAP applications. Teamcenter applications. Impact of information systems on the business system, users and the environment.
To achieve the educational aims in the learning process a combination of lectures, lab exercises and case studies is used, supported by the installed management information systems (SAP, Siemens Teamcenter). Case studies are used to set the practical basis and to show to the students how the various management information systems can connect and apply in the real situations.
