Course specification
Course is active from 26.09.2012.. Acquisition of necessary knowledge and skills from the fields of designing of wastewater treatment processes and wastewater treatment plant. Knowing the characteristics of wastewater. Understanding and knowledge of the wastewater treatment processes and the way in which the design of appropriate wastewater treatment plant will achieve the required degree of wastewater purification (emission standard). Theoretical classes: Origin of wastewater. Characterization of wastewater. Emission standards for wastewater. Analysis and selection of wastewater flow and load elements. Selection of unit wastewater treatment processes, alternative process technologies for wastewater treatment. Conceptual solution of the purification process and wastewater treatment plant. Designing stages of wastewater treatment process: mechanical purification processes, chemical purification processes, biological purification (processes with suspended microflora, processes with immobilized microflora, anaerobic processes); improved purification processes; disinfection. Waste streams of the wastewater treatment processes, their treatment and disposal. Aspects of plant operation (process control and management; smell control; energy efficiency). Practical classes: Demonstration of the design process: conceptualization of wastewater treatment processes; development of the conceptual solution of the process line (technology) for wastewater treatment and wastewater treatment plants; development of a technological project for a wastewater treatment plant. Lectures and Practice (interactive work in simulation of process design and wastewater treatment plants). Consultations – individual and group.
