Remote laboratory stands for the use of internet based or other telecommunication technologies to remotely conduct real experiments, at the physical location of the existing laboratory, whilst the user is utilizing technology from a separate location. Remote laboratories field is growing but is still far from providing enough inputs to educational demands. On the other hand, Internet technologies matured significantly offering many commercial tools but most applications are not aware of the academic needs.
University teams are rapidly developing a number of new remote experiments in order to enable students and people from industry remote access to their laboratories.
