Course specification

Course is active from 13.10.2008..

Students acquire professional knowledge in the field of applied electronics in industry, modern devices, robots, their conectivity with computer, optoelectronic components, etc. The main goal is to prepare students to face up-to-date complex engineering challenges in the field.
Students are able to: -design and make systems with PICs and DSPs, PLCs, etc. -design and make electronic measurement devices -design and make devices to solve practical problems of consumer electronics -design and make robotized systems -design and make systems with optoelectronic components and sensors -design and realize systems that connect computers with electronic systems
The design and production of systems based on hardware and software. Hardware includes: PC computers, computer networks, microcontrollers, DSPs, PICs, A/D and D/A converters, operational amplifiers, transistors, diodes, digital circuits, memory, sensors, video cameras, sources of power, passive components, speakers, antennas, mobile phones, LC displays, optoelectronic components, power thyristores and transistores, modems, etc. Software includes: C++, Delfi, MatLab, Visual Basic, Yava, Visual C++, programmes for PC emulation, DSP programmes, signal processing (FTS and such). A part of the course is carried out through independent study-research work in the field of applied electronics in industry and life. The study-research work involves an active follow through of primary professional and scientific sources, the organization and realization of experiments and statistical processing of data, the design of industrial devices, writing a seminar paper in the field covered by the master thesis. Making project docummentation. The public presentation of projects and the presentation of projects on the Internet. The work will be done in teams including professionals in this field of work.
Lectures. Auditory practice. Laboratory practice. Tutorial work. A part of the course matter which is a logical whole can be done by completing work on 2 projects and thus obtaining 60 points. The final examination is the presentation of the examination project, and students can obtain 30 points. Students who have achieved success at student competitions can obtain extra points. The grade at the course is formed by adding the points obtained by attending the auditory and laboratory practice classes, doing the student papers (projects) and taking the final examination. Students are especially evaluated by and encouraged to show their ability to solve practical engineering problems and present papers/projects.
